On Thursday, September 24, 2026, a devastating fire in Taplejung destroyed 10 houses, leaving 14 families homeless. Along with their homes, the families lost essential household items and belongings required for their daily lives. Responding promptly to their suffering, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation Nepal mobilised relief assistance on September 25, 2026, providing essential supplies to the affected families.
As part of this service initiative, each of the 14 families received a gas cylinder with a gas stove, plates, bowls, glasses, a pressure cooker, blankets, mats (foam mattresses), and other essential household items to help them resume their daily lives.
The relief distribution programme was attended by Yagyanidhi Poudyal, Chief of the District Sports Development Committee Office, along with Chief District Officer Umesh Dahal, Bikas Gautam, President of the Taplejung Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yugbirhang Limbu (Dambar), Chairperson of Meringden Rural Municipality, Gajendra Nalgo, Chairperson of Ward No. 3, and other elected representatives, security personnel, social workers, and local residents.
While receiving the relief materials, the affected families expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the timely assistance extended to them during this difficult time. Having lost their homes and essential belongings, they shared that receiving immediate support with basic necessities had brought them considerable relief and comfort.
During the distribution, two women were overcome with emotion and expressed their gratitude, saying, “Seeing our suffering, God has sent us relief. Now, from this evening, we will be able to cook and eat our meals again.” Their heartfelt words reflected the profound difference that timely service and compassionate support had made in their lives.
Although many local residents said that this was their first time hearing about Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, the prompt, organised, and compassionate assistance extended by the Organisation deeply touched their hearts. The experience helped them recognise the spirit of selfless service and love embodied in the Organisation’s work.
Through this humble act of service, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation Nepal stood beside the families in their hour of need, bringing comfort, hope, and practical support to those affected by the disaster.
This service initiative exemplifies Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s timeless message, “Manav Seva is Madhav Seva” — Service to Man is Service to God, demonstrating how love, compassion, and selfless service can bring hope and dignity to those facing adversity.
