There are two children’s home run by the SSSSON – one in Bharatpur, Chitwan for girls and
another in Pokhara for boys.
The less educated and financially underprivileged girls of the interior rural parts of the country are vulnerable to human trafficking. Girl trafficking developed as an underground thriving profession is a big threat to girls, especially the young and the orphans. The recent earthquake that took lives of 9,000 people has left many girl children homeless and parentless. Many naïve girls lured with day dreams by the devious brokers often find themselves at wrong places mostly in India. In order to contribute to this fight against human trafficking and also to address this social menace albeit to a small extent, the SSSSON has started a Children’s Home (orphanage) for the girls. Started in 2010 from a rental premises on the occasion of the eighty-fifth advent day of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, it has moved to its own building in 2017.
It was established with the following objectives:
● To provide food, clothing, and shelter to totally orphaned girl child;
● To provide education and training so they can be self-reliant;
● To inculcate in them human values in line with the philosophy of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings, and also to encourage them to participate in the spiritual activities;
● To rehabilitate them in society after they complete education;
Currently 23 totally orphaned girl children, all of socially and financially under-privileged
background, reside in the home. The organization is providing education to these girls at the
best schools in the area and kept them in a manner that befits the teachings of Bhagavan Sri
Sathya Sai Baba.
The Sri Sathya Sai Bal Ashram Pokhara was established in 2017 for boys. Housed in a rental
premises, currently there are 9 boys. SSSSON has bought the required land where it intends to
construct home for them.
The purpose of establishment is same as that for the girls.
